SATURDAY 5th June: (Eight Weeks). Sorry, been very busy, so haven't had time to update since last week. Janet and Terry collected Tico/Kato last Saturday and he travelled back to cornwall in style on Janet's lap, he was a good traveller and the only time he was fazed was when he was disturbed by the siren of a fire engine passing by. He has met the grandchildren and enjoyed sitting on Bethany's head.LOL. He has now settled into his new home, and is already enjoying going out for walks (being carried) on the beacons, but only another week or so and then he can chase about for short spurts after Kodi.
On Monday it was Diego's turn to leave the nest and Off he went to start his life with Sue and Will in Andover, it was very sad waving another puppy off, but nice to know that they are in good loving homes, He is already playing mad games with the youngest of his new sisters, but the older ones still look at him with suspicion, he is eating well and loving being the centre of attention. It was remarkable how quiet the house felt with only four puppies left, it was not as if Tico or Diego were noisy puppies and I kept doing head counts and feeling panicky when I could only count four instead of six, before remembering that the two boys had already gone.
Thursday Swipper left for his new home (Jane thinks she is keeping his name as Swipper as it suits him), he was a little travel sick on the journey to his new home and was very cuddly and subdued the first evening, but has soon found his feet. Jane took him into work the next morning as she had a meeting to attend, and he was the star turn in the office, Jane sent me a photo of the boy, flaked out after meeting and greeting all his fans. This morning I received another photo of him asleep....right in the middle of Jane's bed...life of riley.
With Swipper going Life is so much more peaceful, but I really miss him, there is nobody emptying the water bowl all over the floor every time its filled, there is nobody screaming at nap time, No escaping puppy routine when I pop one in to their pen and two rush out. Apollo still spends lots of time with us, playing with Tora and Boots but he is sleeping and eating next door which gives me more time to actually train Tora, I am into sofa training now I am older...if I can do five minutes training with out getting off the sofa...then that's great:o)!
Have not started on heel work, but we have started doing downs and stands and sits and puppy recalls, we do walk back and I am teaching the "Look" and "Get it" ready for retrieve and sendaway. Sometimes she wants sweeties as a reward but we are now having more fun playing with the tugg, so we are getting there. She will on the odd occasion b*gger off with the tuggy and turns her back on me to destroy it instead of bringing it back to continue play. I Just have to work at being more interesting then a static toy. At this stage what I really want from her is that mummy is more fun then anybody else (including her brothers!).
Will have to make an effort to advertise Boots after this weekend, I was rather hoping to find the right home from my contacts rather then advertise to an open market and get somebody unsuitable. I have had several enquires but I am just so fussy, these babies are special to me, and not just live stock or a money making scheme. In fact so far I have spent over a thousand on the litter so my rewards is a new Dyson hoover and my two fantastic puppies (which of course is priceless) and four wonderful ambassadors who will give me more pleasure then money. Just love hearing all their news as they grow.
Its my Championship show tomorrow so off to help put up the rings this afternoon, and by tomorrow night will be exhausted. Charlotte and Richard have promised to look after the three pups whilst I am away. Only hope they keep an eye on that Tora, she is now escaping from my back garden into Charlotte's and vice versa, so as I type Richard is busy with the chicken wire. Thankfully the pups can no longer squeeze through the stair gate, so as long as everybody remembers to close the gate, the pups can no longer rush upstairs and play hide and seek under the beds. I must make an appointment with the vets to get the pups vaccinated next week so that they can enjoy going out for little walks instead of having to be carried everywhere.
