Wednesday 24th Sept: (FIVE weeks): Set off to the hearing and eye vets in Hythe Southampton at 8am for a 10 olock appointment, its only 34 miles away but the work traffic is horrendouse took half an hour to get out of Portsmouth. But the puppies were very good and slept through all of the journey, booked in for the eye test and had lots of visitors coming out to the car to ooh over the gorgouse puppies, They all passed their eye tests with mr mason and then the wait to see kate for the BAER test. There are only a few of these test places in the country, so many breeders do not bother but I think its nice to know that the puppies have all the tests available. The hearing tests involve taking in a sleepy puppy and holding them out in front of you whilst they attach needles and wires (like acupuncture) through the skin on the top of the puppies head, they then hold a earphone to a ear and pulse different ranges of sound, the pups brain waves should then respond to the nosies and the results are recorded and the other ear then checked as well. Pleased to say they passed with flying colours and the new owners will all receive a copy of the hearing graph for their puppy once we have KC reg them. I knew our luck for a quiet journey was doomed when with in minutes of our journey back somebody puked up there recently eaten lunch and everybody elses started shouting!
It has been a stressfull few days Great granny tasha has been unwell and been back and forth from the vets but today her temperture is down and she is looking a little better and even wanted some of the pups scrabbled egg.
The pups are now going out in the garden each morning to play for a short while and love digging in Jamies sand box, so they are soon exhausted and popped back into bed for an hour giving my time to do a few chores. I am also pretty certain now who is gong to which owner and just need to start thinking about their new KC names, This litter are “Teddy bears” so thinking caps on. I am still uncertain if I am keeping one, or having a second litter. But Kath who is waiting for a little girl is prepared to wait until I have made up my mind, bless her for being so understanding. I want to keep Clarabell but on the other hand want to have time to make Tasha my number one priority, so I need to see what the situation is before I phone kath up. Of course I may have a second litter in eighteen months time and have a merlie girl (I am quite taken with their markings, and there was I thinking that proper collies should only be black and white!).
