Saturday12th June. The pups at Nine weeks: We were at a family funeral yesterday, so pups spent the afternoon in bed and the evening with a puppy sitter, You can tell this morning that I was going to pay for not paying them much attention yesterday, Tora has been so naughty, rushing from one mischief to another. She has found a new escape path via the designer wall, just big enough for her, but poor boots gets his head stuck! so at 6am this morning I had to wake Charlotte up to retrieve Tora from her back garden and have been busy since fixing the dismantled whelping box to the wall to make a more solid barrier. She then escaped when Jamie opened the door, now Apollo and Boots are as good as gold they just rush from mine to charlottes house, but not Tora, she was off up the road with me in my nightie chasing after her. Popped her the back garden again and put the board across the conservatory door so I could hoover in peace, she scrabbled, leaped the 3ft board and started to chase the hoover. Put her back in the garden again, a few minutes later I'm out pegging washing on the line, only to have her pulling the large towels back off the line and into the mud whilst she kills it, whilst I am tutting (or maybe that was Swearing!) I turn back to see her jumping off jamies play table, she had climbed onto a bag of compost then onto a bucket and then onto the table and was jumping off on top of her brothers, My god if she ends up with good hips I will be surprised, I had planned on rearing her with no jumping, no skidding up and down the stairs, gently walks. The little madam will have me grey and wrinkled in no time! She is now limping so I am feeling guilty as well as worried, I though I was an old hand at having puppies but you forget the trouble they can find.
As for Boots, well my friend came to visit last wednesday and fell in love (knew she would) but as she had already made plans for this weekend that couldn't be changed she is collecting him on Monday, she is still trying to make up her mind what he will be called, possibly Tipper, I did try and veto her calling him toffee...thats a goldie name.lol.
Training is coming on very slowly what with the funeral and Boots adding a distraction, we are only fitting in a couple on minutes morning and night, but hopefully next week will get into a better routine of several quick sessions during the day. I still need to be more interesting as she is easily distracted. I have to choose my training sessions to suit her. First thing in the morning and last thing at night she is really up for it and plays tuggy and bally with me quite happily, the rest of the day although she bombs about I can not find the switch that puts her into working mode, even sweeties are not of much interest whilst she is in this mood. However pleased with the little bits I have got out of her when I have got the timing right. She is certainly different to her mother. I have deliberately not done anything with Apollo as I need there to be a distinct line between him and Tora...he is Richard's dog NOT mine, even though he spends a lot of time with me and I love my Apollo cuddles.
Richard seems to be doing very nicely with his basic training Vaccinations were Wednesday and pups all passed the vet check again and had no adverse reaction to the Jabs, also had them weighted as they are too big for my kitchen scales...Apollo was a whopping 7.3kgs!!!! Tora just 4.54Kgs, half the size! Apollo has been in to school to meet Charlottes pupils, and loved being star turn. Tora just loves being the naughty one, and Boots is still lovely and a very active bunny whilst awake but still first to bed and last to wake and happy to settle by your feet or have a cuddle. Richard said that Apollo is a bit of a sulker, if told off he will go and put him self under the coffee table with his back to richard and will ignore him, until he has finished sulking! Tora like her granny Tasha will dip her head as if to take the telling off, then a few seconds later is off again with a "I don't care, you still love me!" attitude. Boots just doesn't like to upset anybody, for 1)he,never needs to be told off and 2) if he hears any shouting or telling off going on, he just lies quietly somewhere till its over, His wish for life is world peace!
