Sunday 2nd May: I have been promising some video footage, I have been busy with the camera recording them each day, but have not managed to be able to download any of the videoing, one think after another. Have lost the cables for the camera, ordered a new set, ordered an editing programme for the computer, which arrived but was too big for my computer memory, so Charlotte has promised to set it up on her computer, next door. So Now I have to find Tine to go and play with the new equipment and hope I can at last do a dvd of my delighted puppies playing.
I also apologise, I added the photo of the pups last week on my web site, but the web site moderator only seems to check the site on a saturday and so you all had to wait an extra week to see the photos of the pups at 2wks. This weekend I photographed the pups Saturday morning and downloaded them immediately, So Enjoy.
The pups are now more co-ordinated and confident, they have started to climb. I have had to removed both Boots and Benny from the Video shelf on the tv stand, as they have climbed up Jamie's bean bag and then wiggled onto the shelf, If I had realised that were going to do the dusting for me, I would have provided them with a duster, instead I have a dusty shelf with footmarks.
Saturday 1st May: The pups were introduced to a third meal today, scrabbled egg at supper time. I scrambbled 3 eggs believing that there would be enough left over for Trio to have a bit, but the pups wolfed it all down and remained clean! The big dogs were a little disappointed not to have been more help with the washing up.
The pups are playing more with the toys, I have two cot toys attached to the side of the pen and they are busy trying to pull them off and having a chew, they also show am interest in some of the small mcdonalds soft toys that Jamie has given them. But their best toys are my trousers, Charlottes shoes and the throws on the sofa. The expensive puppy toys are of little interest to them.LOL.
This evening Jamie went through her toy box and the pups were introduced to lots of different noises and textures. they were fascinated with the whooshing water in the toy washing machine and the electrical ball with flashing lights that rolls round the floor making a din, this was their favourite and they all played chase the ball.
Friday 30th April: The pups have had their first taste of porridge, Swipper manly manned the plate and stood over in for quarter an hour whilst trying to fit he last bit in, when he really didn't have room. The others were not that fussed and eat for a while and wondered off then came back for another few mouthfuls. Such a little amount of porridge, and yet every pup is plastered in it. Thankfully the big dogs were pleased to be let in and helped with the cleaning up.
We Have a 'Vain' puppy, who likes to admire himself in every mirror and shiny surface. Richard first made the comment that Benny spent as much time in front of the mirror then Charlotte did, and last night we watched with fascination when Benny caught his reflection in the glass panel of the tv stand, he preened and posed and then started licking the glass! Self Love!
Thursday 29th April: The pups have teeth! Poor Trio! So its time to wean the pups and Trio is at liberty to let them have a sup at the milk bar for us long as she wants. One vet I went to, use to complain that I let my bitches feed their pups till they left home, the vet said it was unfair on the bitch, But I believe that as long as bitch is happy and healthy, and the pups are adapting well to solids then mother knows best. Trio is already feeding the pups from the stand position to strengthen their legs and necks.
Normally I start weaning on puppy porridge and then introduce one extra meal a day, but as my Puppy milk has not arrived We started the pups off by feeding them small quantities of mince this afternoon. The pups seemed to love it, and tried to climb into the meat container, Swipper and Dora seemed to be the most interested in the solids Tico and Diego seemed to lose interest and went off to play long before the others did. Diego found a jamie shoe and started to drag it around the floor, he then climbed into my slipper and went to sleep.
The pups are starting to paper train their selves and will climb off the vet bed to wee on the paper, with the exception of Benny who stands up, has a wee and lies back down on the same spot...dirty boy, no wonder Richard said he always smelt of Puppy wee.
